Note that in some States there are limits on what you can charge as a “finder’s fee”. Unfortunately for many people in your position they misread the laws and quit the business before they start because they read something on a State Treasurer’s website limiting fees or telling people not to pay finders!  Don’t be a dummy and miss the opportunity!

The Treasurer does NOT typically hold the funds we are talking about. The funds we are talking about are usually held at the County level, they are never turned over to the State Treasurer and are NOT usually advertised on a website. They are not usually subject to the rules you are reading about on a State Treasurers website because the rules the State Treasurer is referring to are for funds the Treasurer holds!
